ASTM A193 B8C is 347 SS (UNS S34700). it is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel used in extreme applications. It differs from standard B8 with the addition of tantalum and columbium.

Fully threaded studs are the most commonly type of supplied ASTM A193 B8C fastener, but other fasteners are available, including heavy hex bolts.

Applications that require ASTM A193 B8C are often high-temp applications involving some sort of high-heat air discharge. Even at high temperatures, ASTM A193 B8C offers intergranual corrosion resistance.

ASTM A193 B8C is available in both a class 1 (“standard”) and class 2 (“hardened”) option. Both class 1 and class 2 are carbide solution treated. Class 2 also is strain hardened, increasing it’s tensile strength, yield strength and hardness.
